Sugar Cookies


Three cups of all purpose flour

One cup of melted butter

Two eggs

One and a half cups of powdered (icing) sugar

One heaping tablespoon of baking powder

One tablespoon of vanilla extract

Two tablespoons of almond extract

Decorative colored sugar to decorate cookies (optional)


Prepare a few baking cookie sheets with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to bake at 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs and sugar together.

Gradually add the vanilla and almond extract to the mixture and keep on mixing.

Add the baking powder and mix it in well with the rest of the ingredients.

Gradually add the flour to the mixture, one cup at a time.  Mix well after you add each cup of flour with a spatula.  After you had the third cup of flour, you can knead the dough mixture.

Separate the dough into a few portions.

Roll out each portion flat until is about two cm thick.  Use a cookie cutter of your choice to cut out your cookies.  Keep on repeating this with all the dough portions until you have used it all up to make your cookies.

Spread out the cookies onto your baking sheets and sprinkle them with the colored decorative sugar (optional).

Place the cookies into the oven to bake for approximately 1o to 12 minutes.

You can also frost your cookies with icing if you choose not use the decorative sugar.
