Mini Cinnamon Buns

My recipe for my Mini Cinnamon Buns is a healthier version of cinnamon buns as it requires less butter and sugar. It is easy to follow and can be made in less than an hour if you have all the ingredients readily available.


Three cups of all purpose flour

Two Eggs

Eight tablespoons of melted butter

One – third cup of milk

Three table spoons of white sugar

Two tablespoons of brown sugar

One cup of powdered sugar (for the icing)

Two tablespoons of ground cinnamon

One tablespoon of baking powder

Two tablespoons of vanilla extract

One teaspoon of almond extract


Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F before you start your preparing the buns. Prepare a greased baking tray for your buns.

In a large bowl, mix the eggs along with three tablespoons of the butter. Then add the vanilla extract, almond extract and one tablespoon of white sugar and mix well into the mixture.

Gradually add the flour and baking powder and mix it into the butter and eggs until it becomes a dough mixture.

Once the mixture becomes thick, you can use your hands to knead the dough until it becomes smooth. Split your dough in half into two round balls. Using a rolling pin roll out one of the balls into a flat round circle approximately to the size of a regular round pizza tray.

Next, using a pastry brush spread one table spoon of the melted butter over the dough that you have rolled out. Mix the cinnamon and brown sugar into a bowl separately. Then sprinkle one tablespoon of white sugar and then the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture over the rolled out dough as well.

Once everything has spread over the rolled out dough evenly, start rolling the dough inwards until it rolls up into a long roll. Next use a knife to cut the roll into approximately six to seven pieces and place them onto the baking tray. Repeat the same steps as above with second ball of dough. Place the baking tray with cinnamon buns into the oven. Let them bake for approximately 20 to 25 minutes or until they are a golden brown color.

In the mean time, while your cinnamon buns are baking, mix the powdered sugar with the remaining melted butter and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until it becomes a thick icing.

Once your cinnamon buns are finished baking let them cool for about five minutes and ice them with the icing you have prepared. Your cinnamon buns are ready to be eaten, enjoy!
