Macaroni and Cheese is one of my favorite comfort foods. I like to make my own cheese sauce from scratch as it tastes much better and is healthier in the sense that it is made of whole ingredients. This recipe is quick, easy and simple and tastes delicious and flavorful. I hope you enjoy it
Two cups of elbow cut Macaroni
Four cups water
Three cups Condensed Milk (you can use regular milk if you want to make it a little healthier)
One table spoon All Purpose Flour
Two cups of grated or shredded medium Cheddar cheese
One cup of grated or shredded Parmesan cheese
One table spoon Mustard powder
One teaspoon Salt
One teaspoon Black Pepper
Two teaspoons Garlic Powder
To cook the Macaroni, heat up the water in a pot, add a teaspoon of butter to the boiling water along with the Macaroni. Strain the water out of the Macaroni once it is cooked and leave the Macaroni in the pot.
To cook the Cheese Sauce, heat up two table spoons of butter in a different pot on medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the all purpose flour in and stir slowly. Keep on mixing the flour and butter until the mixture is smooth and then add the milk and stir it into the mixture. Gradually add the salt, pepper, garlic powder and mustard powder and stir it into the milk mixture. Gradually add both cheeses and mix them into the milk mixture slowly. You will notice the mixture will become a thick sauce and you can take it off the stove. You can add the Macaroni into your pot of sauce and stir it in and you are done! Enjoy!
